How the ODIN Tax Friends & Family Referral Program Works

refer a friend

Most Aussie expats find a good accountant the same way — a friend says, “use mine, they actually get expat tax.” It’s rarely a Google search. It’s a text in a group chat, a recommendation over dinner, someone who’s been through the same tax headache and knows who to call.

That’s how trust works at this level. Australian expat tax isn’t complicated because people are careless — it’s complicated because the rules are genuinely nuanced. Foreign income assessments, residency tests, CGT implications on the family home, negative gearing while living abroad — most generalist accountants don’t deal with this day-to-day. When someone finally finds a specialist who does, they tell their friends.

We’re leaning into that with the ODIN Tax Friends & Family Referral Program. If you’re already an ODIN Tax client, you’ve experienced how expat tax should be handled. If someone in your circle is still figuring it out — or worse, working with an accountant who’s guessing — this is a simple way to help them, and save yourself $250 in the process.

When you refer a friend or family member and they sign up and pay for an ODIN Tax service, you both get $250 off your invoice. That’s it. No complicated sign-up process, no points system, no fine print designed to make the reward impossible to claim. Submit a form, we do the rest, you both save.

This page covers exactly how it works, what you get, and answers to the questions we hear most often.

How It Works

The process takes about a minute on your end. We handle everything after that — reaching out to your friend, walking them through what ODIN Tax does, and making sure the credit is applied to both invoices once they’ve paid.

Step 1 — Submit the referral form

Head to https://www.odintax.com/friends-family-referral-2026/ and fill in your friend or family member’s contact details. There’s no lengthy form — just the basics we need to reach out. It takes less than a minute. Make sure you have their consent before submitting.

Step 2 — We contact them within 1 business day

Once you submit the form, our team reaches out to your referred friend within 1 business day. We’ll introduce ourselves, explain how ODIN Tax works, and find out what they need help with. There’s no pressure on them — it’s a conversation, not a sales pitch.

*If you’re not a client already, we’ll also reach out to you.

Step 3 — They sign up and pay, you both get $250 off

Once your friend engages ODIN Tax and pays for a service, the $250 fee reduction is applied to both of your invoices. You don’t need to follow up or chase anything. As soon as the payment is confirmed, the credit is issued — $250 off for you, $250 off for them.

You can do this up to 3 times a year, which means up to $750 off your own tax bills just from introductions you’d probably make anyway.

Frequently Asked Questions

You each receive $250 off your invoice — you as the referrer, and your friend as the new client. That’s $250 each, not $250 shared.

The $250 is issued once your referred friend signs up and pays for an ODIN Tax service. It is not issued when they enquire, submit the form, or book a discovery call. Payment is the trigger.

No. The $250 is a fee reduction applied directly to your invoice — it comes off what you owe ODIN Tax. It is not a cash payment, cashback, or bank transfer.

It depends on when your friend pays:

  • Your friend pays before 1 July 2026 → your $250 is applied to your existing subscription or current invoice.
  • Your friend pays on or after 1 July 2026 → your $250 is applied to your next bill.

Your referred friend always receives their $250 off their first ODIN Tax invoice, regardless of timing.

You can refer up to 3 people per year, for a maximum of $750 in savings. Each referral is counted separately — all three must sign up and pay to unlock the full $750.

Yes. Your $250 credit is valid for 12 months from the date it is issued. Make sure you have an upcoming ODIN Tax invoice within that window to use it.

You can refer any Australian expat or resident who needs an Australian tax service and has not already engaged ODIN Tax as an active client. They need to be a genuine new client — not someone already in our system. Make sure you have their consent before submitting their details.

The Friends & Family Referral Program runs until 31 December 2026. Referrals submitted after that date will not be eligible. If you’re planning to refer someone, don’t wait until the end of the year.

The program is designed for genuine friends and family introductions. Please only refer people you know personally and who have consented to being contacted by ODIN Tax.

Questions about whether a credit has been applied or when it will be issued should go to your ODIN Tax specialist directly. Marketing cannot confirm credit status — your ETS (Expat Tax Specialist) is the right person to ask.

Ready to Refer?

Tax season is the moment most expats think about this. They’re filing their own return, they’re reminded of how complicated it was before they found ODIN Tax, and they think of that colleague in Singapore or cousin in London who’s still struggling through it alone.

That’s the right moment to send them our way.

If you know an Aussie expat who’s been putting off their return, working with a generalist accountant who doesn’t understand the expat-specific rules, or simply doesn’t know where to start — this is a straightforward way to help them sort it properly. They get $250 off their first invoice. You get $250 off yours. And their tax actually gets done right.

The program runs until 31 December 2026. There’s no complicated process — just a short form at the link below.
